The year 2008 was probably the most difficult year in
Tom's life; but the last few have been a series of ups
and downs. Six years ago, Tom underwent gastric
bypass surgery and went from nearly 500 pounds to 278
pounds. A year later several medical
complications, a severe orthopedic injury, and losing
his mother resulted in him gaining back about 100
pounds. As Tom recovered emotionally and
physically, he regained his confidence and in 2007 went
from 380 pounds down to 329.
The turning point in his life came after his sister
passed away suddenly in the beginning of 2008. He
started to spiral out-of-control emotionally and
physically. He often stayed in bed 14 - 16 hours a
day, fighting both medical issues and depression.
He credits NBC's The Biggest Loser for getting him out
of his funk and giving him the desire to change his life
and get healthy. Tom started walking and his
wonderful wife Megan even helped him stay on track with
proportioning all of his food.
Tom heard about IDCF on Facebook and signed up as a
virtual participant in the 40-Day Challenge. Even
though he wasn't familiar with Stacey & Adam from the
show, he figured he would try it out.
In 40 days, Tom lost 22 pounds and lowered his BMR by 3
points! He lost an astounding 8% body fat!
Tom has put aside his past struggles and is re-energized
and re-focused on his commitment to be healthy. He
knows that his success in grounded in having people
around him that support that end. He has even
participated in his first 5K race and looks forward to
doing more!
Vonda's long days traveling to and from
work, being a mom and wife distracted her enough that
she lost focus on her general health; left unchecked,
this could have resulted in future problems down the
line. In less than 40 days, Vonda lost over 7% of her
body weight. The bigger accomplishment is that Vonda
applied small changes in her exercise and nutrition
which helped her lose weight rapidly from the outset.

First, she started by simply eating MORE! Vonda
was one who never ate breakfast; lunch was variable; and
dinner...well, she is lucky enough to have a husband who
cooks, but not always the healthiest. She was also
not a big fan of much that is green and grown in the
ground.
Vonda employed the nutrition program
recommended by ICDF, which included eating at least 5x
per day and increasing her protein and vegetable intake.
She also allowed herself to try new and different foods.
She combined this with her ICDF exercise program
recommendations and in the first week lost 6 pounds!
Vonda's success is also attributed to the fact that she
was honest with herself when she had "not-so-good" days
on the eating an exercise fronts. More
importantly, she recognized her success and worked even
harder when she saw the changes! This spunky lady
has beat the odds - even when her co-workers tempted her
with their sugary-wares!
As our client, Vonda lost 11 pounds, 1% body fat, and lowered her
BMI by 2 points!
Lorri
just turned 29-year-old and is a mother of two. She has struggled
with her weight her entire life! She came to ICDF
after feeling
she had tried every diet there was.
Though she had some success on a few different programs,
she struggled to keep it off after her two pregnancies.
Over the years, she has lost 146 pounds, only to gain
back 115. She felt she let life take control of
her and is trying to correct that by making better
decisions about her health and well-being. Lorri
now exercises five days a week and focuses on eating
whole foods. She
eats five satisfying small meals a day, which had
helped to alleviate symptoms related to hiatal hernia,
GERD, and high
glucose levels. This busy mom even squeezes
in a work out or two during the day, even if it is
push-ups and sit-ups while watching a TV show. Lorri
says she feels better than she ever did with any diet.
She knows she CAN DO it this time!
As a client, Lorri lost 17 pounds, 1% body fat, and
lowered her BMI by 3 points!
